AutPlay® Therapy: Introduction and Foundations **
Description:
This training presents an introduction to the AutPlay Therapy treatment approach, a Play Therapy and Behavioral Therapy approach to working with children and adolescents with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), neurodevelopmental disorders, and other developmental disabilities. The phases of treatment, primary and secondary target goals, and parent involvement will be covered. Several play therapy interventions designed for children with ASD will also be presented through experiential participation, session clips, and case examples.
Learning Objectives:
1) Participants will be able to identify the components of AutPlay Therapy including the phases of treatment and parent/family involvement.
2) Participants will be able to outline the theoretical underpinnings of AutPlay Therapy including play therapy models and behavioral therapy.
3) Participants will be able to demonstrate the assessment process in AutPlay Therapy, including conducting an autism screening.
4) Participants will be able to identify play deficits and how to structure effective play therapy interventions for children with ASD.
5) Participants will be able to explain the three primary and three secondary target treatment areas in AutPlay Therapy.
6) Participants will be able to list several play therapy interventions used in AutPlay Therapy.
**Additional online modules will be required post-training in order to receive the AutPlay Credential ($270 additional). Day 1 attendees must register online within 4 weeks (by October 16th) to be eligible to complete the training at the reduced rate.
Using Play therapy to Address Sensory Processing Challenges
Description: An overview of sensory processing challenges will be covered along with descriptors of the eight sensory processing areas. The benefits of non-directive and structured play therapy will be covered as well as the foundations for using play therapy with sensory issues. The concept of a sensory play diet will be defined and explored. Several play therapy interventions designed to help with sensory issues will be explained and presented through book examples and session video clips. Current research will be presented, and participants will have the opportunity to understand how to create a sensory-friendly playroom.
Learning Objectives:
1) Define what is meant by sensory processing issues and how these issues can present in play therapy sessions.
2) Identify several play therapy interventions that can be used to address sensory processing challenges.
3) Conceptualize the foundations of using play therapy with sensory challenges.
4) Outline a sensory play therapy diet to help children with sensory struggles.
5) Identify how to make a play therapy room and offices sensory-friendly.
6) Explain research related to play, play therapy, and sensory processing.

Presenter: Dr. Grant specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families affected by autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD and other neurodevelopmental disorders. He is the creator of AutPlay® Therapy, an ASD and neurodevelopmental disorders approach incorporating play therapy, behavioral therapy, and relationship development approaches. He is also a Certified Autism Movement Therapy provider and trained in many established ASD treatment approaches. Dr. Grant is also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapy, a Post Traumatic Stress Disorder/trauma-related therapy for children and adults.
Dr. Grant is an international speaker and keynote presenter having presented for the American Counseling Association, Association for Play Therapy, American Mental Health Counselors Association, and The World Autism Congress. He is a multi-published author of several articles, book chapters, and books.

Continuing Education Credit: Six non-contact CE will be awarded for each full day of attendance (12 total CE available for both days). No partial credit will be awarded.
Additionally, registrants (RPT, RPT-S, & SB-RPT) with continuing education due between March 15, 2020 and December 31, 2020, may submit all non-contact training hours to fulfill the 18 hours of play therapy continuing education due with their credentialing renewal.
Counselors: Alabama Association for Play Therapy (AAPT) has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6211. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credit are identified. Alabama Association for Play Therapy is solely responsible for all aspects of the programs.
Marriage and Family Therapists: The Alabama Board of Examiners in Marriage and Family Therapy (ABEMFT) automatically approves courses that are NBCC approved for CE credit.
Play Therapists: AAPT is approved by the Association for Play Therapy (APT) to offer continuing education specific to play therapy. APT Approved Provider 98-045.
Social Workers: AAPT is approved by the Alabama State Board of Social Work Examiners (ASBSWE) to offer continuing education to social workers. ASBSWE Provider No. 0284.

Cancellations: Registrants canceling up to 48 hours before a workshop will receive a tuition refund less a $20 administrative fee (per day). All requests must be made in writing or by email. No refunds issued for any reason after September 16, 2020. In the unlikely event, the workshop cannot be held, registrants will receive complimentary admission to a rescheduled workshop or a full value voucher, good for one year, for a future workshop.
An email containing a link to the webinar will be sent the day before the training. This email will also contain handouts and suggested supplies from the presenter.
