Integrating Art and Play Therapy

Synopsis

This workshop will be VERY EXPERIENTIAL with hands on learning about the similarities between art and play therapies and how they interact. We will explore art and play therapy the through making of play therapy objects that can be used in therapy. The concept of art therapy interventions vs. art activities in therapy will be explored. Experiential art therapy interventions that can be used in groups and individually will be demonstrated.

We would like to ask that participants bring with them one shoe box and a pencil. Other supplies needed will be provided.

Learning Objectives

Gain an understanding of the differences and similarities between art and play therapies.
Gain a clear understanding of art therapy interventions that can be utilized in play therapy.
Develop an understanding of when to refer to adjunct art therapy, as opposed to using art activities in play therapy.

*ONLINE REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS June 14th. After that rates go up as indicated in column two above and you must register on-site at the conference location.

For MAIL IN registration the same fees apply, but the registration deadline must be postmarked by June 11, 2011.  After that you must register on-site at the higher rate. To mail in your registration print out the brochure and complete registration area.

Group Discount $10.00 per registrant for groups of 3 or more registering together. Group registration is available only by mail.

Cancellations

Registrants canceling up to 48 hours before a workshop will receive a tuition refund less a $20 administrative fee or if requested a voucher good for one year for a future workshop. All requests must be made in writing or by email. No refunds issued for any reason after June 15, 2011. You may choose to substitute someone after this deadline but you must notify AAPT of the change. In the unlikely event the workshop cannot be held registrants will receive complimentary admission to a rescheduled workshop or a full value voucher, good for one year, for a future workshop.

Scholarships

Offered to full-time students who are available Thursday evening and Friday prior to and during the conference. Interested applicants may access the volunteer application on our website. Please remember traffic can be a problem so allow yourself plenty of drive time.

Visitors to Trinity United Methodist Church should park in the large or main parking lot located on Oxmoor and Clermont Drive. Watch for AAPT signs to direct you where to go for the workshop.
